Role Overview

  • Hands-on technical delivery of radio connected, gas flow measurement devices, to meet the regulatory and customer requirements of global and local markets
  • Use broad engineering and system architecture knowledge and development experience, to gather product requirements and effectively transpose these into features understandable by development engineers
  • Work with the product development teams to ensure delivered solutions fulfil the communicated requirements

Responsibilities

  • You will be a hands-on technical leader with exemplary broad-spectrum engineering and architectural skills
  • With substantial experience in the development of radio connected embedded devices (preferably instrumentation), you will bring the level of expertise to requirements capture, system definition & design and the development oversight required to bring new products to market, on time and on cost
  • Working hands-on with Product Managers, Development Engineers, Approvals Bodies and Operations, to identify all product requirements necessary to develop and deliver solutions which meet business, market and customer needs
  • Negotiating these requirements to establish architectural direction for the development teams to engage with, distilling requirements into understandable features to be implemented by the wider development team
  • You will be able to demonstrate a history of successful system thinking, considering all aspects of the product from the perspectives of customer\market, business commercial, manufacturing and service and support
  • You will use your leadership experience to ensure that the product implementation meets all your internal and external customer objectives
  • You will act as a communication interface between the product management, planning, product development and validation teams
  • You will be accountable for the technical delivery of the end product, to the agreed requirements
  • Experience of Smart Energy-Measurement Device is desirable, including: Zigbee, NB IoT, WiSun, M-Bus, SMETS & SMETS2
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar requirement management tools is a necessity

Person Specification/Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree level in an Engineering discipline, or HND with extensive experience
  • Highly experienced in the art of requirements gathering and feature negotiation
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-driven and highly motivated
  • Experience of radio connectivity, for example: Zigbee, NB IoT, WiSun, M-Bus
  • Knowledge of the Smart Metering industry, for example: SMETS & SMETS2
  • Working knowledge of project planning/control methods e.g. Gantt charts

Desirable

  • Experience developing low powered radio connected instrumentation\devices
  • Software development experience
  • Good, applied science knowledge, including Physics
  • Experience with Ultrasonic measurement techniques, preferably gas flow
  • Experience of design for high volume product manufacture
  • Able to work to high standards of quality and precision
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel to an intermediate level
  • Possess a good standard of both written and spoken English
  • An ability to work within a team, with minimal supervision #LI-AA1
