Description:

In this role as the Principal Flight Safety and Mission Assurance Engineer at Virgin Galactic, you will be expected to be the primary technical authority on Flight Safety and Mission Assurance process and analysis. A critical component of this position will be to ensure that groups and individuals from cross functional disciplines that have inputs to flight safety and mission assurance are supporting those efforts with timely and correct data. Additionally, the role would keep assist regulatory compliance with efforts to license future vehicles by acting as the subject matter expert on regulations that pertain to flight safety derived public safety. To that end this position would be responsible for crafting processes and procedures for flight safety that meet regulatory requirements and mission assurance to support company key performance objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience aerospace or related field
  • Subject matter expert in development and modelling processes for reliability, safety and maintainability
  • Extensive experience interacting with the FAA.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams on complex problems to achieve goals
  • Subject matter expertise in FAA 14 CFR Part 400

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to reduce field data for use in reliability, safety or maintainability modelling
  • Aircraft safety management system knowledge
  • Project management skills
  • Flight operations experience within an aerospace organization
  • Previous OEM aircraft manufacturing or overhaul operations experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have above-average software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
    The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $163,100.00–$261,050.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
