Job Description

The Principal Environmental Compliance Consultant will work in the UK&I EHS and Process Safety team to support the development and growth of the environmental compliance business across our full client base as well as into new clients. The role will be based in Ireland and, whilst Ireland will be a key market focus for the role, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in environmental compliance consulting on UK and European AECOM projects. The key sectors for this role will be Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Water, Alternative Fuels, Hi Tech and Energy.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the EHS Practice Director in managing the team and the delivery of technical environmental compliance projects across a wide range of industrial, hi tech, power and energy sector clients for work being delivered in Ireland, UK and parts of Western Europe.
  • Environmental compliance will include Industrial Emissions Licensing, all aspects of Environmental Permitting including preparation of applications, management of permits when approved and environmental compliance auditing.
  • The successful candidate will have experience of supporting clients directly including meeting quality, cost and delivery.
  • Work with senior AECOM colleagues and Client Account Managers to support the winning of new work.
  • Support the development of AECOM environmental compliance competencies across the teams utilising external and internal training delivery, work processes, mentoring and engagement.
  • Be active in key external organisations e.g., professional bodies, subject groups, etc.
  • Keep up to date with environmental compliance trends, legislation and practice in UK&I and Europe and ensure this is shared across teams.
  • Identify areas for growth in environmental compliance consulting capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid, full Republic of Ireland Driving Licence.
  • A degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • In the process of achieving Chartered status with an appropriate professional Institution or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing and reviewing.
  • Strong, demonstrable related experience, covering broad knowledge of industrial operations
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge of relevant European legislation relating to environmental compliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of report writing and reviewing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organisational agility, and well-developed influencing skills, ideally in client facing roles.
