- Lead the technical direction for the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Mine Survey discipline
- Perth-based role in our Central Park offices which includes on-site parking
FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.
We are looking for a Principal Geospatial Data and Survey to lead a team of specialist surveyors to develop and deliver technical Survey systems, processes, and solutions for the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Survey discipline.
You will play a key role in developing mine survey capabilities through use of new technologies and practices. In addition to this, you will continue to look for future opportunities to enhance and shape the survey discipline to meet the future needs of our business and mining processes, which will be achieved through effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and industry bodies.
Reporting to the Manager Operations Planning, you will:
- Work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to drive enhancements to geospatial data delivery
- Identify and manage the implementation of new survey technologies that have applications in both the geospatial data processing and mine survey fields
- Lead and work in a way that puts the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, stakeholders, and the environment first
- Provide leadership to the Operations Planning Survey team in both technical and professional streams through an effective coaching and mentoring process
- Ensure geospatial data processing & mine survey systems and standards are applied consistently throughout the business
- Ensure mine operations are compliant with DMIRS statutory requirements in relation to mine survey practices
- Manage the procurement and delivery of survey systems and spatial data from third parties
- Ensure teams comply with Rio Tinto and other relevant standards applicable to their work and that appropriate resources & training are provided to succeed in their roles
- Prepare and peer reviews periodic reports and presentations as required by the joint ventures and internal governance
