Description:

Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Melbourne on a 12 month contract.
Reporting to the Discipline Manager - Instrument & Controls and working as part of our clients’ integrated team, you will take responsibility for the assigned Instrument engineering work scopes while leading a team of engineers to deliver across FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery for major brownfields oil & gas project.

Role modelling Wood’s vision, values, and behaviours including always promoting safe working practices you will also be responsible for:

  • Planning, budgeting, organising and controlling the Instrument engineering deliverables for multiple projects
  • Preparing Instrument deliverables for all project phases the oil and gas industry ensuring they are consistently checked, accurate and presentable
  • Ensuring all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
  • Provide direction and guidance on all Instrument engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
  • Liaising with the Client’s engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Providing sound technical advice and solutions to technical problems within the discipline
  • Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
  • Assisting in the coordination of all activities related to Instrument engineering design
  • Identifying any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
  • Providing day to day support and services to the client and the integrated project team

Suitably qualified with an Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering degree from a recognised institution, you will have proven experience in either a Principal or Lead Instrument & Controls Engineer role within the Oil & Gas industry in an EPCM / Engineering design office environment.

In addition, you will have:

  • Proficiency in Sizing Software: Flow Elements, Control & Safety Valves
  • Knowledge of SPI for the development of I&C engineering deliverables, control systems, shutdown PLC hardware and software design
  • Extensive Knowledge of instrumentation, valves, safety equipment, control systems, Safety Systems & communication systems
  • Extensive design and knowledge of applicable codes and standards (both international and Australian)
  • Proven experience managing risk during the design process consistent with technical and commercial requirements
  • Excellent analytical, literacy and numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with proven experience in client facing roles
  • Be prepared to undertake site visits either onshore / offshore
