Description:

Clinical and Operational Pharmacy Services To develop and deliver operational pharmacy services in line with national initiatives, department, and trust strategy. This includes the identification, assessment and implementation of new technologies and novel ways of working to ensure that pharmacy services delivered are safe, efficient, and cost effective and able to meet the demands of the service.To manage patient facing pharmacy services and directly line manage Lead Pharmacy Technicians across all Moorfields sites working within dispensaries and within the pharmacy procurement and distribution teams.To ensure patient facing pharmacy services are delivered in accordance with trust and departmental policy and procedure.Development of relevant pharmacy policies, procedures, and training. Strategy To advise the Deputy Chief Pharmacist/Chief Pharmacist on the departmental and trust strategy as it relates to the identification, assessment, and implementation of new technologies (including infrastructure) and ways of working to support: Smooth running of operational pharmacy services Compliance with medicine regulation across the trust Delivery of Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs) associated with the above Effective departmental training and education for operational and patient facing staff To develop and present appropriate business cases for the development of pharmacy clinical, operational, procurement, stores and distribution services, and digital medicines solutions as necessary. To support the Chief Pharmacist in delivering the trusts Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Strategy.Corporate Medicines Safety & GovernanceTo support the Trusts Medication Safety Officer for NHS England to promote the safe use of medicines.To support the trust corporate medicines governance strategy, through development, implementation and monitoring of relevant policies and standard operating procedures, i.e.
through audit.To monitor safe management of medicines, improve medication incident reporting and learning.Service Level Medicines OptimisationTo support the clinical services in developing policy and procedure with regards to the safe, effective, and cost-effective use of medicines.To manage the Lead Pharmacy across Moorfields sites and to support clinical service level review of medicines usage. This is to ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medicinesand support CIP initiatives.To support the clinical pharmacy services in the management of medicine related incidents and interface issues.To support the clinical pharmacy services in the development and implementation of electronic prescribing functionality to support the safe, effective, and cost-effective use of medicines.Managerial and supervisory responsibilitiesTo manage the Operational Lead Pharmacy Technicians across the trust and act as a role model and provide leadership to all staff.To be responsible for overseeing the management of all the pharmacy technical staff across the trust.To manage patient facing pharmacy staff issues related to sickness absence, grievance and discipline and manage these in accordance with trust policy and procedure.To be responsible for the recruitment and selection of staff and to ensure Human Resources (HR) trust policies are followed.To be responsible for ensuring staff working within areas of responsibilities are competent and work to local standard operating procedures. LeadershipTo act as role model for all pharmacy staff delivering clinical and operational pharmacy services.To work in conjunction with the other Lead Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in taking delegated responsibilities from the Chief Pharmacist. Education and TrainingTo support the departments education and training agenda.To support arrangements for provision of training related to safe and effective use of medicines across all staff groups.To oversee the delivery of education and training for pharmacy technicians, assistants, and other pharmacy support staff in line with GPhC and national standards.
ResearchTo identify and support research related to the safe and effective use of medicines.To support the trusts audit programme as it relates to the safe and effective supply of medicine
