Description:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal/Lead Subsea Pipeline Engineer on a staff basis, based in Reading/Staines, UK.
As Principal Engineer, you will be a part of a small, high profile team to produce novel technical solutions to client’s problems and provide clients with execution and economic plans to enable them to make strategic business and capital expenditure decisions.
- Ensure technical compliance, accuracy, quality and execution of all aspects of offshore pipeline design at conceptual and FEED level
- Leading project teams to provide the full range of pipeline services as required by the client
- Client facing role with responsibility for project performance measurement (planning, scheduling, cost management)
- Provide specialist technical support to projects, including, but not limited to:
- Pipeline route selection and wall thickness optimisation
- Design of tie-in systems incl. spools, manifolds, PLETS, ILTs, etc.
- Develop, review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations and deliverables such as tie-in spool and riser design, on-bottom stability, spans analysis, pipeline expansion, on-bottom roughness, global buckling and cathodic protection design, etc.
- Develop pipeline installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance philosophies, specifications and procedures
- Development of reports, specifications, data sheets and material requisitions and scopes of work for offshore survey and EPC contracts
- Carry out, review, approve and/or supervise study and design work
- Provide assistance to other disciplines and participate in review meetings, in accordance with project requirements
- Identification of gap/conflicts amongst various project information, specifications/drawings & recommend corrective measures to ensure design integrity
- Assisting Pipelines Discipline Manager in departmental activities
- Minimum MSc Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 12 years relevant experience in subsea pipeline design
- Chartered Engineer status required with an industry recognised organisation
- Experience in leading pipeline design teams within a project environment
- Proven track record in a conceptual and FEED environment
- Detailed design experience desirable
- CO 2 and Hydrogen pipeline design experience desirable
- Experience in onshore pipeline design desirable
- Familiar with the relevant international codes and standards and competent in the design, specification and selection of pipeline systems to meet the project requirements
- Knowledge of finite element analysis in 2D, 3D
- Knowledge of pipeline installation techniques
- Knowledge of pipeline materials and coatings insulation methods, composite pipe types
