ABOUT THE ROLE

RPMGlobal is currently seeking a Principal Metallurgist to join our Advisory Australasia Division. The Principal Metallurgist will provide premium consulting expertise to RPM clients and projects as part of the global Advisory Services resource pool. Experience working in a variety of processing environments ranging from plant operations, engineering and consulting (internal / external) will be well regarded.
The work provides considerable variety across a wide range of commodities, including critical and battery minerals, as well as processes around the world.
As part of this role, the Principal Metallurgist will support RPM’s project teams and executive processing consultants in the assessment of process aspects of projects and operations as well as take on a leading role in project studies and due diligences.
This role would be suitable for an experienced Metallurgist/Processing Engineer with site experience as well as engineering or consulting experience. Interest in gaining experience in multiple commodities, a range of processing methodologies and international projects is a requisite.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Brisbane office. Regular domestic and international travel is a requirement of this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess/evaluate the processing and site infrastructure aspects (studies, test work, flowsheets, engineering design, capex/opex, etc.) of projects and operations.
  • Support the completion of high-level Due Diligences, Independent Technical Reviews, etc.
  • Conduct processing aspects of studies (mainly Conceptual/PEA, Pre-Feasibility) which includes developing capital and operating costs and databases.
  • Prepare and manage test work programs.
  • Provide input to Governance statements (JORC and ASX releases) and reports (e.g. NI43-101).
  • Provide technical support and guidance to RPM colleagues to support exploration advice, resource/reserve estimates, mining studies and financial models.
  • Develop client relationships and identification of business opportunities.
  • Present draft and final reports on the project work.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience gained in a Metallurgical Processing, preferably Engineering.
  • Experience in metallurgical processing on-site and/or engineering and consulting roles.
  • Background and good understanding of standard metallurgical operations including comminution, flotation, dewatering and leaching, with experience in flotation and leaching in base and precious metals, although experience in other commodities and processes will be valued.
  • Experience in key commodities and mineral processing unit operations.
  • MAusIMM preferably CP(Met) and RPEQ.
  • Understanding of typical process capital and operating costs.
  • Understanding of studies (Scoping, PFS and FS).
  • The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of customer stakeholders, from technical to non-technical.
  • Strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Australia and travel overseas.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in business studies or similar is advantageous.
