Description:

The Principal Project Officer positions (Permanent x1 and Temporary x1) are an opportunity to join the Strategy, Insights and Advisory group of the Department of State Development and Infrastructure. The primary responsibilities of these positions include but are not limited to: undertaking active involvement in leading or advising on priority departmental and portfolio projects and programs, delivering upon key strategic priorities through a performance management model, assisting in removing barriers and working across the department to ensure the successful delivery of key priorities, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, performing and delivering upon operational tasks and requirements. Additionally, for the temporary role, there is a specific focus on evolving and maintaining highly effective portfolio management operations including governance, probity, assurance, scheduling, risk management and financial management.Position Status: - Permanent (x1)- Temporary (x1) (up to and including 13 June 2025, with the possibility of extension).Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - working in a team to provide quality advice, vision and strategic forecast, plus assist and/or oversee the management of strategic projects and programs that are priorities for the portfolio or involve a number of business groups across the department.- Assisting in providing specialist advice and oversight for the portfolio in the delivery of time limited and strategic projects.- Assist in, and/or provide high quality and timely strategic analysis on complex issues to formulate meaningful advice reflected through briefings, project and program management, reports, Cabinet submissions and presentations.- Contributing to the development and maintenance of fostering productive relationships and networks both internally and externally to the department.- Assisting and/or providing strategic future-focused advice to the Director-General and the Executive Leadership team on performance management where priority delivery is affected, as well as maintain business as usual activity.- Promoting the develop and maintenance of a positive working environment, culture and professional behaviour that develops a high performing team.
