An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Psychologist to lead our Adult Inpatient Psychology
Service at the Berrywood Hospital, Northampton. Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS
Trust is rated “Outstanding” by the CQC and our mental health services value MDT working with
psychology being at the forefront of care and treatment delivery.
The Head of Adult Inpatient Services highlights the value that the inpatient teams place on our
psychology service: ‘our nursing teams have embedded low level psychological interventions within
their everyday practice in order to support patients with emotional support needs whilst accessing
support from psychology for case formulations and reflective practice. Our nursing and medic
colleagues are open to non-medical treatment and care. We are seeking a driven individual who can
take us to the next level as a service with more inpatient pathway options and potential for an MDT
discharge model.’
The Principal Psychologist will be leading the Berrywood Hospital Inpatient Psychology service, and would provide supervision/line management of up to 4 other psychologists/psychological therapists, a Clinical Associate Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist. The Principal psychologist would work closely with the Principal psychologist at the Welland Centre, Kettering and is supported by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
The Inpatient Psychology service provides staff support, debriefing and team formulation sessions as well as individual work with service users. The post holder will also be expected to be active in supporting service development to help ensure efficient and therapeutic practice across the wards, good communication, service user involvement, and recovery-orientated and positive risk-taking approaches. An interest in working within complex healthcare systems would be an advantage, as would demonstrable experience of offering training, team formulation, supervision and consultation.
The Trust has an active network of Psychologists and Psychological Therapists, and you would be actively encouraged to participate in network meetings and other CPD activities. We have good links with both the Leicester and Oxford Doctoral training courses, and regularly host trainees on placement.
This post is being offered as up to 1.0WTE or a minimum of 0.6WTE
This permanent post benefits from a recruitment incentive of £5,000 pro rata for successful candidates over 2.5 years. Initial payment of £2,000 will be made in the 1st month with a subsequent payment of £2,000 made on the 13th month of employment. The remaining £1,000 will be paid out in the 18th month of employment. Terms and conditions apply.
A relocation package is available up to £8, 000, if the successful postholder relocates to Northamptonshire and meet other eligibility criteria. This is subjected to approval.
