Description:
The Fluid Framework team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer. Help us build out our high scale platform for all developers to create real-time collaborative experiences. The team develops a fundamentally new shared distributed data model (https://fluidframework.com) in our open-sourced repo and works to cultivate a vibrant developer community to broaden its applicability. We work closely with our partners to build new Microsoft 365 collaborative experiences, extend the framework’s accessibility to our customers with suites of SDKs, and define the platform that expands the reach of these collaborative experiences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with JavaScript/Typescript/NodeJS and web frameworks
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience in web development including JavaScript/Typescript/NodeJS and web frameworks.
- Experience working on distributed systems and/or high-performance systems.
ADDITIONAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- cross-discipline and cross-group collaboration skills
- problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience participating in open-source projects
- Experience building developer platforms including API/SDK design, developer tools
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
As a Principal Software Engineer on the team, you will be responsible for key areas of our stack. You will be empowered to have end-to-end ownership for your areas including architecture, design, code, test, and telemetry coverage. You will partner deeply across disciplines as well as across teams to help deliver results that delight our customers, learning constantly while solving tough technical challenges.
