Principal Solicitor, Policy and Specialised Legal (PASL)
Full Time, Ongoing
The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has an exciting ongoing opportunity for an experienced solicitor to join our Policy and Specialised Legal Division (PASL) as a Principal Solicitor!
The successful candidate will be required to identify and respond to emerging legal and policy issues, including interpreting and decision making where there is limited precedent. This successful incumbent will also have the opportunity to appear as an advocate in the County and Supreme Court in some cases.

About the Role:As a Principal Solicitor you will:

  • Undertake highly complex legal work across a number of specialised portfolios.
  • Undertake high level research and investigation of external legal and policy issues and provide advice as required to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in formal and informal mentoring, advice and training to OPP staff.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Extensive working knowledge of Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence Law and experience with highly complex cases.
  • The ability to effectively identify and respond to emerging trends and provide high-level advice on legal and policy issues.
  • The demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
