SPECIFIC WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Whilst specific ICT or information security tertiary or industry certifications are not a prerequisite for this role they will be highly regarded in conjunction with previous experience in senior IT operations and/or operational security roles especially around SIEM, Vulnerability Management and Incident Response.
  • Whilst not a prerequisite for this role; Cyber Security Certifications such as OSCP, GCFA, GCIH and other GIAC certifications will be highly regarded

  • Serve as a trusted advocate and partner for cyber security in collaboratively working with customers in order to meet their needs

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

The successful candidate to draw upon their broad knowledge, skills and experience in Information Technology and Cyber Security to:

  • Help deliver and maintain innovative health technologies for frontline doctors, nurses and paramedics.
  • Improve clinical health care and patient outcomes
  • Serve as a trusted advocate and partner for cyber security in collaboratively working with customers in order to meet their needs.

Based in Fortitude Valley, we are currently seeking a Principal Specialist to provide technical expertise to successfully implement the Cyber defence incident/threat detection and response capability.

  • Technical lead for Cyber Security Incident Response activities for Queensland Health
  • Review current technical detection and response capabilities for Queensland Health and provide guidance to management on how to address identified gaps
  • Implement tools and technologies that will allow Queensland Health to respond to various types of malware and threat actors, work closely with relevant operational teams to implement these technologies
  • Perform monitoring, research, assessment and analysis on enterprise security tools, SIEM, Firewalls, Antivirus systems, proxy devices etc which requires demonstrable security incident response experience
  • Perform initial risk assessment on new threats and vulnerabilities. Proactively respond to any potential cyber issues following pre-defined actions to handle BAU and High severity issues including escalating to other support groups. Execute daily adhoc tasks or lead small projects as needed.

Are you right for this role?To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in the development and implementation of cyber defence strategies, in a large, complex and geographically dispersed service delivery organisation.
  • Proven experience in managing Cyber Security Incidents in large, complex, geographically disappeared organizations, leading technical operational teams through these incidents as well as executives and stakeholder management.
  • Proven experience building out and managing cyber threat detection and response capabilities for organizations, including open source and paid technologies.
  • Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses to key issues affecting the enterprise.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, presentation and consultation skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff at the organisational, state and national levels.
