As a Pr. Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical outcome of entire constellation missions. During mission definition development, you will work with the commercial & Program organization to ensure mission requirements are valid and mission scope is adequately defined. During the different phases of the mission execution, you will be responsible for ensuring the customer goals and objectives are accurately flowed into multi-level requirements sets for the systems engineering & functional teams. You will be the main point of contact with the customer for all technical issues, and will work alongside the Program Manager to manage schedule & budget.

KEY SKILLS:

  • BEng in Engineering equivalent STEM-related subject, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ of experience working in a technical engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Controls, RF Communications, etc) or as a systems engineer for complex integrated systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of space systems, concepts of operations, and remote systems operation

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • 7+ years of experience as a space systems engineer working across engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Controls, Radio/Comms, etc)
  • Experience developing or integrating RF payloads.
  • Experience coordinating or leading diverse technical teams spanning multiple engineering disciplines and time zones
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients and effectively communicating with other members of cross-functional teams
  • Strong comprehension skills to enable timely understanding of complex customer requirements and identification of thorough and sometimes unique solutions
  • Experience/knowledge of ADS-B / Mode S transponders
  • Good understanding of orbital dynamics
  • Good programming experience (Python preferred)
    Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the technical scoping of multi-phase, multi-year high profile mission from initial scoping to execution & delivery
  • See beyond the existing infrastructure and provide detailed inputs to support infrastructure projects
  • Main point of contact externally
  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver the right technical solution that meets budget & schedule constraints
  • Develop the overall mission requirements and flow down to manage the systems engineering team
  • Maintain requirement traceability and linkage across multiple disciplines & mission phases
  • Own the technical risk management function in collaboration with the PM to ensure that risk is managed and minimised in a consistent & repeatable manner
  • Act as the Responsible Engineer for the whole solution - Platform, Bus, Mission, Manufacturing, Test, Operations, GSE & Customer ICD
