Description:
Applications are invited for an appointment as Principal Technical Specialist; IT, for 5 years fixed term, 1FTE at University of Galway’s Institute for Clinical Trials.
The main purpose of the job is to:
- Manage, maintain and develop the IT services that are critical to the smooth running of the institute (see list below). This entails having responsibility to define, develop, test and deliver new services or changes to existing services within the context of the institute’s operational and strategic plans and through the delivery of projects, work items and service requests.
- Take an active role in working with researchers, the management team and Institute partners to ensure services are delivered against agreed performance standards.
- Provide technical leadership to Institute staff and students as well as other stakeholders in respect of IT services.
- A strong focus on day-to-day technical support of all activities in the Institute for Clinical Trials.

Salary: €59,234 - €80,303 (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011) and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University’s Remuneration policy.
This appointment will be made on the Grade 5 scale in line with current Government pay policy.
