Description:

As an important part of NXP’s electrification strategy, the Battery Management Systems (BMS) business is growing into the next phase with the ambition of becoming one of the largest semiconductor suppliers in the segment, by constantly creating added value for our customers and partners.
We are looking for reinforcement in the Battery Management Systems & Applications Team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a BMS principal system architect, you will be responsible for leading the system analysis and concepts, feasibility assessments and pre-development of new and innovative system approaches and architectures. Based on your experience in the BMS field and your deep understanding of our customer challenges, you will be one of the main customer interfaces for system topics and future architectures. You will be closely working with marketing and product definition on defining our system and product roadmap.
During our customer’s product evaluation phase, you will ensure the comprehensive understanding of our customer’s requirements and will drive the corresponding system proposal based on NXP BMS products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education / studies: BSEE required, MSEE preferred
  • 10+ years of experience within system engineering and product design in the automotive BMS applications
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in automotive BMS systems
  • Prior experience working at Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 or 2 suppliers in defining, implementing, or supporting Battery Management Systems is desired
  • Knowledgeable about automotive quality (AEC-100) and reliability requirements, safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA) and familiar with functional safety standards such as ISO26262 is desired
  • Experience in working in international and interdisciplinary teams
  • Self-driven attitude to get engaged and contribute
  • Strong analytical skills to understand, model, and analyze electronic circuits and systems to propose breakthrough semiconductor solutions
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken in English (German or French would be a plus)
  • Open to travel for customer meetings and internal team meetings up to 20% of the time

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and assessment of future BMS system architectures.
  • Creation of high level functional product specification based on customer requirement.
  • Benchmark of different architectures and design space exploration to find the best cost, performance, power and die size trade-off.
  • Lead design win activities in collaboration with applications, sales, marketing and FAEs. Coordinate the technical part of customer RFI responses.
  • Establishes close working relationships with key customers.
  • Lead the analysis of potential innovation areas on system, architecture and software level.
  • Support the definition of scope and content of future BMS reference designs and demos
  • Develops a deep understanding of the BMS market and derives product ideas and feature requests for future devices
