Description:

SUMMARY:

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Principle Specialist, Quality Engineering, In this position you will be reporting to the Manager, Quality Engineering. As the Principle Specialist - Quality Engineering, you will be responsible for product & process realization through FAI, improving inspection methodology by introducing automation & advanced inspection tools. In addition, managing & implementing quality requirements related to the product and be the primary focal between engineering and production.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically required a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience OR an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of inspection automation using AI tools
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings and math data including GD&T.
  • Experience in product and process improvement through FAI and corrective action.
  • Related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Eligible to work in Canada; Successful candidates must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred).
  • Experience in Aerospace or Automotive.
  • ASQ “Certified Quality Engineer” certification.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Working Knowledge in SPC, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA and/or DOE.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight and accountability of inspection planning. Timely completion of FAIs in accordance with AS9102.
  • Approve techniques / manufacturing plans
  • Lead projects pertaining to test lab prove-out, inspection automation and implement augmented reality techniques.
  • Review and standardize inspection technique, upgrade inspection tools to optimize process efficiency.
  • Planning and execution of all Quality Assurance activities to ensure parts produced comply and confirm to all Aerospace regulatory, QMS and Engineering requirements
  • Coordination of customer requirements into production processes and ensuring compliance to those requirements.
  • Identify Inspection, FAI or MRB related production constraints and actively action to resolve those with the cross functional team
  • Participate actively in PPAP (Product Part Approval Process).
  • Facilitate Process Certification events, Manufacturing Process Reviews and follow up on open actions
  • Organize and lead Gauge R&R evaluations
  • Implement and maintain SPC system and report Cpk/Ppk data on all KC’s
  • Coordinate containment, sort/rework actions for external and internal issues
  • Participate and coordinate problem solving activities and manufacturing concerns (customer specific reports: 8D, 5 Why, fishbone etc.)
  • Support the “Zero Defect” plan and participate in continuous improvements activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
