We are looking for Chemical EIT’s that will become an integral part of our Cross-Functional engineering teams located in Fort McMurray. In these dynamic roles, you will provide technical support to operations to maintain safe and environmentally responsible production. These roles provide technical support for the development of projects and field level engagement during plant maintenance and Turnarounds. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team environment and will be required to interact with technical and operations staff.

Process Support and Contact Engineering roles span the following areas / technologies:

  • Hydrotreating
  • Hydrogen Production
  • Distillation / Fractionation
  • Fluid and Delayed Coking
  • Sulphur / Amine / Sour Water
  • Powerhouse / Steam Generation / Water Treatment
  • Ore Preparation
  • Slurry Transport
  • Flotation
  • Froth Treatment
  • Flue Gas Desulphurization

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemical or Mineral Process engineering
  • Seeking new grad individuals or junior engineers with 1 - 5 years of experience
  • Strong computer skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs is essential
  • Registered or are immediately eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to achieve the safe, reliable, and efficient unit operation as well as develop scoping studies, unit performance plans and troubleshooting
  • Daily monitoring of process units and provide recommendations for process set point changes to maintain product quality specifications
  • Steward production, recovery, yield, operating risks, and restrictions
  • Conduct field tours, observations and vessel inspections of various equipment as required
  • Provide technical support to investigations, performance optimization, process improvement studies, economic evaluations, plant maintenance outages, and start-ups
  • Provide technical feedback into process inspection scopes and support turnaround/outage through process studies and evaluations from inspection findings
  • Ensure objectives and deliverables are met during project lifecycle according to business and project requirements and standards
  • Ensure process designs minimize hazards, achieve the desired intent, minimize costs, and adhere to relevant internal and external industry standards
  • Participate in project risk assessments such as HAZOP

  • Support planning of projects to improve efficiency as required and the development of engineering scopes and test plans related to projects

Location and other Key Details:

  • Positions are located in Fort McMurray, AB
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer housing assistance to eligible individuals
  • Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
