Description:

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Candidate must have an engineering degree from a recognized university, preferably in mechanical engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies is recommended
  • Must be action-oriented and always looking for ways to challenge the status quo
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and results-driven
  • Must have good balance of soft (relationship-building) skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an engineer is an asset
  • Qualified candidates will have manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel is required
  • Individuals must have excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience with project management software, preferably Asana, is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Root cause inefficiencies within plant processes using continuous improvement methodology; DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.
  • Manage a set of long-term projects relating directly to plant KPIs focused on improving safety, providing exceptional service, maximizing throughput, reducing waste and improving quality
  • Manage shorter-term assignments alongside the long-term projects in order effectively root-cause and address opportunities as they occur throughout the year
  • Create a project implementation plan to correct root causes, working with the plants to achieve buy-in and sustainability
  • Conduct equipment trials. Collect and analyze data, generate reports summarizing the results of the trials. Calculate overall cost savings
  • Explore new fields of technology to determine if the existing process can be improved
  • Develop SOPs and One-Point Lessons to be posted and used on the production floor
  • Conduct training sessions with production crews on new processes and/or technologies
  • Work with C.I. team members to standardize changes and ensure consistency in implementation across plants
  • Attend daily production and/or quality meetings and execute on actions assigned
  • Other duties as required
