FREYR Battery is a pioneering force in the energy sector, dedicated to accelerating the global transition to clean energy. With a focus on producing sustainable battery cells, FREYR aims to power the future of energy storage and transportation systems, contributing significantly to global decarbonization efforts.
FREYR has built the commercially-sized Customer Qualification Plant in Mo i Rana, Norway and announced development of industrial scale battery cell production in the United States.
We are seeking an innovative Process Engineer - Electrode to join our team at the Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) in Mo i Rana, Norway. The CQP in FREYR is the heart of research and development of our battery product and process technology.
The factory holds a full battery production line dedicated to processing and testing of new materials, development of processes and cell design, producing battery samples and optimizing the manufacturing process. The work done here will set the foundation for succeeding in expanding the production up to a Giga scale.

Depending on your personal experience and team needs, your main responsibilities will involve a mixture of:

  • Operate and continuously improve our pilot line, while driving its future development forward - focusing on the following activities:
  • Powder processing, drying, and conveyance equipment and process
  • Electrode mixing equipment and process
  • Electrode coating and cutting equipment and process
  • Engaging in research and development for innovative electrode products and process at smaller lab-scales
  • Conducting a broad range of experimental and testing activities, both small and large scale across multiple areas of material science, process engineering, and product qualification
  • Working in cross-functional teams on a variety of topics across electrode manufacturing

WE SEEK CANDIDATES WITH THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in either mechanical/chemical/process/ industrial engineering
  • At least two years of proven experience in lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing processes and associated equipment within an industrial setting
  • Experience with both lab-scale and pilot-scale production

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE BENEFICIAL, BUT NOT MANDATORY:

  • Familiarity with quality standards and systems to ensure product reliability
  • Awareness of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Hands-on experience in new product development in an industry setting
  • Know-how in material science and electrochemistry
  • Thorough understanding of lean principles and methodologies, and ability to apply them
  • Other relevant industrial experience related to powder/mixing/coating that was not directly related to batteries
  • Proficiency in using design and simulation software
