Position Summary:
At Purple, a successful Process Engineer II will be a systems thinker, able to marry detailed local machine and operator efficiency with overall plant performance to direct continuous improvement efforts. The position will be the primary lead responsible for gathering and analysing performance data and communicating findings to peers and supervisors. The Process Engineer II will become intimately familiar with all Purple manufacturing processes, using analytics and systems thinking techniques to improve processes for the benefit of the company. The Process Engineer will team with other departments and disciplines to get buy-in on all improvement efforts.
Directs projects and teams to achieve company goals. May have direct reporting staff. Reports to the Engineering Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a system performance map that communicates efficiencies, capacity, and system bottlenecks
  • Support the development and management of work instructions, generate FAQ’s, audit reports, etc. to support Manufacturing
  • Learn and apply appropriate Lean, Theory of Constraints, and Six Sigma principles
  • Promote an environment of engineering rigor, discipline, informed decision making, and enthusiastic problem solving with his/her peer group in Production
  • Coordinate with the Quality and Maintenance teams to investigate product or equipment failures and determine a plan to prevent or mitigate future occurrences

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, etc..) with 2-4 years’ experience as an Engineer in a production environment
  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Experience with high volume assembly and/or distribution systems preferable
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with personnel from multiple departments and disciplines
  • Understanding of assembly line design and line balancing principles
  • Strong understanding of data analytics
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics, and material specifications
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, BI software, and other enterprise packages
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, requiring the development and maintenance of controlled, scalable processes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Environmental Conditions may occasionally include:

  • Noisy open office environment
  • Noisy production environment
