To assist in ensuring that product and process is developed in line with customer and business requirements and to assist in improving product and process to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability. Responsibilities
1. Supports the day to day efficient operation of the factory
2. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage the initiatives through WAVE
3. Manage yield and spoilage initiatives (output optimization) through improvement projects implementation
4. Manage machine run rates
5. Data analysis for poor process performance, deviations, and significant variance to establish root causes and solutions
6. Lead structured problem solving and improvement projects
7. Manage SOCs (machine settings) and SOPs to reflect sustained performance improvements.
8. Manage trials on-site for new or modified materials and processes
9. Audit the adherence to SOCs on nominated processes
10. Involved in 5 Why’s on deviations or inability to adhere to SOPs/SOCs
11. Participation in Quality incidents investigations when necessary
12. Participate in audits and closing of audit findings
- Assist in creating and implementation of safety procedures for Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) and HIRA Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Background in Printing, Lamination and Bagmaking processes - Advantageous
- Some experience in production, process design & engineering
- Knowledge of the use of computer programs / process simulation packages. Good computer skills with MS Office programs
- Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
- Above average technical skills
- Above average Software skills
- Sound understanding of processes and process controls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Process Safety – understanding safety as priority 1 above cost and efficiency
- SAP and or other ERP systems knowledge - advantageous
