Description:

Koch Fertilizer Canada has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our company! Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to join the Operations team to contribute to the organization’s value creation capabilities. This role offers a fast-paced working environment and opportunities for career development within our growing organization! The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting process safety, plant efficiency increases and equipment/system process design. This role will support both the Operations and Engineering departments by providing data to make informed decisions regarding process optimization and design.

WHO YOU ARE (BASIC QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Completion of a B.Sc. (or higher) in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an industrial facility
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, instrument loop drawings and other process design related documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CMMS.

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights
  • Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic/caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
  • Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
  • Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
  • Ability to use a computer and create reports.
  • Demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Multitask in a fast-paced environmen

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and other Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements that require Process knowledge.
  • Review process health of assigned plant area to ensure Optimization as well as compliance to Safe Operating Condition Limits. Work with operators to adjust Process parameters as needed.
  • Review Operating procedures routinely and after plant changes, adjusting them as needed to improve their effectiveness and clarity.
  • As owner of plant Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams for the assigned area, review and approve changes made to ensure they are within requirements of industry best practices and PSM.
  • Support the Engineering and Reliability team by reviewing equipment designs and ensuring process data used in design packages are accurately represented.
  • Guide and mentor operators to improve their Process knowledge and capability.
