Responsibilities
Champion for the development and improvement of Sheet Molding Compound and Compression Molding processes. They leverage their skills and tools to eliminate waste, increase capacity, and drive cost out of the organization. They also serve as leaders to validate and standardize our processes, creating consistency in our performance. Their expertise and analytical skills also serve as the backbone to successfully launch, and land new product introductions and strategic process improvement projects.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Actively supports and assists with execution of safety initiatives within the plant. All Masonite employees are expected to be leaders in safety performance.
  • Responsible for systematically identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects from inception to completion, including sustainment measures.
  • Utilizes Lean tools to eliminate waste, increase capacity, and drive cost out of the process.
  • Facilitates process improvement events with plant operations teams in alignment with Operational Efficiency objectives.
  • Facilitates raw material qualification events in conjunction with Masonite research and plant operations teams
  • Orchestrates process validation exercises
  • Acts as a crucial link in capital project pipeline development with accurate data capture and thorough analysis. Also responsible for development of process specs and CTQs to be used in capital equipment specification.
  • Provides data analysis and technical support to manufacturing and quality functions.
  • Develops process documentation including work instructions, control plans and visual aids
  • Provides process related training to operations personnel to enhance troubleshooting skills
  • Works with equipment suppliers, Quality Managers, and other technical staff to stabilize and control manufacturing processes if they waver.
  • Serves as the process expert for Sheet Molding Compound and Compression Molding processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Polymer Science
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Sheet Molding Compound and or Compression Molding Process/Manufacturing Engineering position or equivalent experience.
  • Plastics product development experience
  • Experience with compression molding tooling production and maintenance a plus
  • SPC Experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma fluency a plus.
  • Demonstrated statistical data analysis skills and technical report writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative on a wide range of project activities and situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of a manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workload with flexibility and close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work autonomously.
  • PC proficiency including MS Office. AutoCAD proficiency a plus.
