With seven converting lines and two paper machine production lines –for paper towels and bath tissue – the Hialeah Mill is a 24/7 operation and is seeking talent to fill the position of Process Engineer.
Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for evaluation, implementation, and monitoring processes and operating systems for the manufacture of tissue paper. Provides engineering support to production teams, troubleshooting process-related issues, and implementing corrective actions. Continuously improve and optimize the tissue paper production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Five years experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flows, layout, and production equipment.
  • Process control experience for water, steam, and paper mill chemicals.
  • Proven experience with Delta-V, ParcView, SAP, and I-Maintenance software tools.
  • Previous role as a paper machine leader.
  • In-depth experience in SOP QC, BOC paper lab test procedure troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience in Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Expertise in process control for water, steam, and paper mill chemicals.
  • Must be forward thinking and innovative with the ability to act quickly to changing requirements and new processing developments.
  • Self-motivated hands-on individual with keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills, who can follow written/verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized and uses efficient work methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops processes to ensure quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, and quality of the manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
  • Troubleshoots problems with production and takes correction action as needed.
  • Performs equipment calibrations (mill and waste water treatment).
  • Researches the purchase of equipment or materials to upgrade the existing equipment or processes.
  • Participates in mill/vendor meetings and trial planning as well as cross functional team meetings related to process improvement or problem identification.
  • Assists with budget development and potential lab CAPEX requirements.
