  • Create detailed piping layouts, considering factors like pressure, temperature, and safety regulations. Piping design involves understanding fluid dynamics, stress analysis, and corrosion resistance.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, process, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), system layout plans (optimizing space utilization and ensuring efficient workflow), equipment sizing and selection (such as pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers), and associated specification write-ups.
  • Execute process design from conceptual design and criteria development through construction document production and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Perform a variety of engineering assignments under the direction of a supervisor with increasing responsibility based on performance.
  • Consult with supervisor to screen assignments for unusual or difficult problems and select appropriate methods and techniques to apply and estimate the hours required for the approach.
  • Draft interpretation of design into completed working drawings and apply engineering fundamentals to design.
  • Interface with multiple engineering disciplines, project management, system owners, vendors and contractors via phone, email, and live meetings.
  • Perform engineering calculations and communicate on PC system.
  • Design chemical process systems utilizing pressure loss and stress analysis programs.
  • Coordinate with clients and contractors and lead site walks.
  • May be assisted by a designer, but usually assumes no responsibility for direction of others.
  • Being available afterhours may be required for deadline days.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is required.
  • Knowledge of chemical process systems control philosophy including P&ID development.
  • Experience with the design and engineering of systems that consist of fluid transfer, heat exchange, friction loss in piping systems, ultrapure/high purity water systems, specialty gas and chemical systems, solvent/acid/hazardous wastewater treatment systems or other related systems.
  • Semiconductor experience is preferred.
  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
