POSITION SUMMARY:

Thermo Fisher Scientific New Zealand manufacture purified protein and serum products for use in global bio-production and research industries.
The role will be directly involved in projects providing technical support and insight for facilities, equipment and processes at the Christchurch site. Additionally supporting our Auckland and Nelson, sites providing an opportunity to work on innovative equipment and systems.
Essential Experience includes project management and delivery, hygienic process manufacturing in regulated industries such as food, dairy or pharmaceutical and a good understanding of chemicals and industrial automation systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications & Experience

  • A university degree (BEng) or equivalent, with experience
  • Proven experience in an engineering function preferably within an industrial environment related to the production of biological or pharmaceutical type products.
  • Experience acquired across several industries (preferred)

  • Follow EHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe workplace environment
  • The position may require you to participate in on call work. If you are on call you are required to be available for immediate return to work outside of your normal and regular work pattern. Should this be a requirement of your position, there will be remuneration as per the policy.

Responsibilities:

Assure equipment, facilities and processes are safe and fit for purpose
Leading new engineering projects. Conceive and scope engineering solutions to maintain and develop the site’s infrastructure.
Perform validation and calibration activities to directly support the sites quality systems.
Provide technical expertise for utilities, plant, automation, and chemical handling systems to ensure the company meets industry leading standards.
Belonging to the engineering team, we are involved with day-to-day engineering maintenance and respond to facilities/utilities breakdowns and carry out engineering technical investigations.
We are a quality focused organization, so an understanding of compliance and quality management systems including change control, deviations and investigations is required.
Collaborating with external service providers / contractors.
