Vanderlande has recently built a large advanced automated warehouse for one of the largest retailers in the world in Canada.
You will play a pivotal role in our support of this state-of-the-art warehouse. You will work closely with various teams to ensure that customer’s process is continuously optimized.
The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

As a Process Engineer you’ll be responsible for continuous improvement of the performance of our system, logistics operations as well as provided services related to our automated logistics solutions in use by our customer. The Process Engineer will act at an operational and tactical level and will create reports and perform data analysis to identify improvements. The Process Engineer will present the benefits of a specific solution by means of a business case in a convincing and constructive way to management, considering business needs and future developments in customer market. The Process engineer will also lead and facilitate the implementation of the identified improvements on an operational level or at least be supportive to the implementation in case the improvements require changes to the material handling solution or change in processes on the customer end.
This position also involves supporting customer and project team during the go-live period of the new system in Vaughan, specifically with validation of the reporting tools, analysis of data on performance and identifying bottlenecks/issues from this as well as creating and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Your main home base will be at our customer site location in Vaughan as part of the O&M team, but you will also continually align with the global Process Engineers team.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Support the project team in delivery (commissioning and testing) of the material handling solution to our customer in terms of validation of reporting tooling, analysis of the performance of the material handling solution to identify points for improvement (until system go-live).
  • Support for executing continuous performance optimizations related to our (automated) logistics solutions in use by our customers as well as of the O&M services provided by the service team.
  • Create reporting and dashboards to report on the performance of our material handling solution and O&M services.
  • Work with colleagues and customers to analyze data and logistics processes and the automation solution to make improvement proposals for the total logistics process in both systems and operational terms.
  • Clearly report to external and internal customers on status of system and operations and come up with usable insights;
  • Drive implementation of (material handling system and operational process) improvements and solutions within the team and towards the customer and provide proof of positive impact of these.
  • Innovate new solutions and prevent future problems.
  • Develop tools and methods to measure performance.
  • Develop and provide process documentation SOP’s and work instructions to team members.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Logistics, Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Any relevant working experience in a logistical/technical/operations/manufacturing or process driven environment is a plus
  • Advanced user with Microsoft Office suite
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Must possess a passport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in automated material handling solutions is an asset
  • Experience with advanced data analytics tools and BI tools like Splunk, Qliksense, PowerBI

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday
This position supports sites with 24/7 operations, untraditional hours may be necessary from time to time.
Travel:
This position requires occasional domestic and international travel to the USA and potentially Europe.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct reports.

Salary range:
This is a full-time, nonexempt position, eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Salary range for this position is CAD$75,000 to CAD$85,00
