Responsibilities:

THE ROLE & YOU

MidCoast Council’s Water Management and Treatment (WMAT) department are responsible for our drinking water sources, water treatment, sewerage treatment, effluent management, and laboratory services. This department is highly focused on regulatory compliance in reporting to Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Water, NSW Health and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). In addition to our Bootawa and Nabiac Water Treatment Plants, WMAT is also responsible for water treatment operations in Stroud, Bulahdelah, Gloucester and Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest.
The Process Operator contributes to planned and unplanned maintenance of MidCoast Council’s water treatment plant operations. This role will undertake treatment plant inspections, water quality sampling, monitoring chemical supplies and storage levels, operational activities of water treatment plants, and transferring and monitoring water using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network. This position will work at both our Bootawa and Nabiac Water Treatment Plants. As a key role in ensuring the effective management of our water treatment plants and processes, the successful candidate will require broad experience across water process operations, strong teamwork skills, high attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance. Participation in the “on-call” roster is essential after being deemed competent to ensure 24 hour water production is achieved.
