Description:

Under the general direction of the Shift Lead, Engineer, or Supervisor, performs diversified but semi-repetitive chemical processes following standardized methods and procedures under changing conditions. This position will perform front-line operation of small- to large-scale chemical processes for the production of pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals. This may include both batch and continuous processing on a twenty-four-hour basis. Assignments are of moderate complexity requiring the exercise of some discretion and limited use of judgment and initiative. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs chemical and pharmaceutical processing.
  • Operates a wide variety of chemical process and utility equipment and systems.
  • Maintains equipment and facility logbooks and production records.
  • Assists in and/or directs equipment cleaning and sampling.
  • Assisting with facility inspections and cleanup. DISCLAIMER May perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and an associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires 2-4 years directly related experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Must have knowledge of practices and procedures in the area of assignment.
  • Must be able to perform diversified but semi-repetitive operations following standard methods and procedures under changing conditions.
  • Some independent action is required within predetermined limits.
  • Familiarity with facility and process equipment, instrumentation, and data collection.
