EDUCATION:

High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 4 years previous processing experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in either powder blending/granulation, tablet compression and/or coating.
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to maintain records of activities as instructed. Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail. In depth working knowledge and troubleshooting knowledge in majority of process trains within at least one functional area of the Processing department. Exposure to dispensing, film coating, tablet printing and preparing liquids/creams manufacturing. High level Mechanical interest/aptitude. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Excellent organizational, documentation and housekeeping skills. Ability to run and process batches in high potency manufacturing suites. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment with limited supervision. Excellent knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices. Excellent understanding of Standard Operating Procedures. Excellent understanding of safety standards. Proficiency using Microsoft Office software applications. Proficiency with the English language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.

Responsibilities:

  • Process/manufacture products in accordance with written processing orders.
  • Prepare manufacturing areas and equipment for the production of pharmaceutical products.
  • Cleans processing equipment and rooms in accordance with written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Assist and train Processing Technologist I & II.
  • Assist Group Leaders and Supervisor improving the processes and procedures.
  • Provide feedback and process improvement suggestions.
  • Effectively troubleshoots most of the equipment in their area.
  • Ensure product quality meets the standards of Patheon, our clients, and applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (HPFBI), United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and European Medicines Agency (EMEA).
  • Follow the required Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work
