We are seeking an experienced front-line Procurement Manager to lead a team of Buyers in our Supply Chain team located in Port Melbourne to join on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting into the Senior Procurement Manager, this position will suit someone that comes from a high volume and fast paced environment where no two days are the same and will be based 100% onsite.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years experience in a relevant front-line managerial position in a fast-paced Supply Chain and Operational environment is essential
  • Sound experience with contracts and procurement related activities
  • Understanding and working with ISO9000 standards
  • Excellent people leadership and team building skills developed in a lead or manager position
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience in customer / supplier interaction, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and manage expectations based on team’s workload and capabilities
  • Advanced and demonstrated IT skills in Excel, Power Point and Word
  • SAP knowledge and experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on an ad-hoc basis depending on business requirements
  • Ability to attend to local and international calls with suppliers operating in different time zones
  • Australian Citizen to meet defense security clearance requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or relative discipline is preferred although not essential

ABOUT US:

The Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA) supply chain and fulfilment team support both direct and indirect procurement for the BAA site.
We manage over 50 direct suppliers and a range of commodities including metallics, plastics, seals, composites and raw materials. With over 250 indirect suppliers responsible for supporting all the factory requirements including Operations, Facilities, HR, Quality, Environmental Health and Services as well as IT. Our team ensures orders are raised on time, received on time and the supplier is managed against all key deliverables including: safety, quality, delivery, cost and innovation.
BAA has a well-integrated global supply chain with suppliers located in Asia, Europe, the USA and of course Australia. Our warehouse is home to over 10,000 part numbers which are received, put away and kitted to support the production line.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an authorized agent of the company with responsibility for managing all supplier-related activities and the authority to commit company resources through contracts and agreements
  • Lead employees from multiple Supplier Management and Procurement disciplines performing activities related to the acquisition of goods and services in support of company operations
  • Supplier assessment, performance improvement management, supplier diversity and process improvement
  • Develop and execute projects and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals for continuous improvement
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provide oversight regarding negotiation processes and related tools
  • Manage, develop and motivate team members to optimize results
