The Procurement Branch is part of the Government Procurement Group and focuses on supporting the Department and its role in providing corporate procurement services to client Departments (Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and several portfolio agencies. The Corporate Procurement team partners with business areas to build skills in procurement, provide advice, devise solutions, and ensure purchasing and contract management activities achieve value for money and are efficient, effective and ethical.

ABOUT US

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone’s experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Review for endorsement of procurement documentation by Procurement Manager or Procurement Specialist to ensure legislative and policy compliance. Work actively with business areas to develop solutions, documentation and build procurement capability when required.
  • Working with influence to build positive relationships with DGS/DTF/DPC/SV business areas and enhance financial awareness and promote best practice procurement.
  • Identify aggregated purchasing opportunities for client departments and relevant portfolio agencies based on analytics and spend patterns.
  • Review and analyse financial information and prepare regular reports including spend analysis, financial commitments, variance reporting, cost centre audits, purchase order activity.
  • Manage business systems to record, monitor, analyse and report on procurement activities within the portfolio. This includes review and analysis of financial information and preparation of regular reports including spend analysis, financial commitments, variance reporting, cost centre audits, purchase order activity.
