    The Procurement team at IBC deliver wide-ranging and varied projects, aggregating spend and delivering savings to the council.
    The ideal candidate for this role will be able to offer experience in major capital and / or works procurement.

With a mixture of home working and access to Grafton House you will work closely with key stakeholders to provide a compliant and effective procurement service in which your professional advice will contribute to effective and timely procurements covering a wide range of service areas.

  • you will influence the preparation of specifications, liaise with Legal Services, manage the procurement process, carry out financial checks, deal with supplier clarifications and co-ordinate the evaluation of bids
  • you will be required to make use of e-tendering to carry out quotations and tenders including above PCR2015 thresholds
  • you will be educated to A Level standard, although a degree level qualification is desirable
  • CIPS qualified, or with knowledge through experience of a wide range of procurement activities, you will be able to analyse and interpret business requirements, provide professional advice and guidance including legislative and governance constraints
  • you must be a team player, have a flexible attitude and be able to manage changing priorities. You will be able to work on you own initiative, make decisions, and negotiate and persuade
  • you will have experience of e-tendering and writing clear and concise reports
  • your diplomacy and ability to communicate and to develop effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external organisations will be key to securing best value for Ipswich Borough Council
  • experience of construction or works contracts is highly desirable but not essential
  • project management or contract administration/management experience would be advantageous.
