SUMMARY

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for purchasing laboratory supplies and reagents. The Procurement Specialist reviews purchase requests to validate the needs for reagents and laboratory supplies, prepares the orders and establishes costs. The Procurement Specialist will assist in managing inventories levels as determined by the needs of the business. This individual will be responsible for follow ups with all vendors to ensure orders are received in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare purchase orders
  • Ensure proper approvals have been obtained
  • Inquire with multiple vendors for price and availabilities to ensure favourable pricing and request quotes
  • Purchase of laboratory supplies and reagents
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding current orders, dates of delivery and custom documentation, if applicable
  • Follow up with laboratory staff on current orders
  • Ensure inventory levels are sufficient within the laboratories to ensure continuity of operations
  • Assist in monitoring and negotiating equipment maintenance contracts
  • Other related administrative tasks

Education

  • College degree or B.Sc. in life science

Experience and skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in laboratory’s materials and reagents
  • Proficient with software such as MS Office, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience Microsoft Business Central 365 or any ERP is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of mass spectrometry and techniques relevant to immunology studies is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills and quality-driven
  • Bilingual (French and English), written and spoken
  • Ability to work under short deadlines
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Problem-solving and proactive.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid working schedule (1 day onsite, 4 days remote)
  • Candidate must be based in or around Montreal, QC.
