Description:

NATURE OF WORK

The City of Everett is accepting applications on an open/competitive basis for the Civil Service examination process for Procurement Technician in the Procurement Division of the Finance Department.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A combination of education and related experience may substitute for education or experience requirements.
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain or Purchasing and Materials Management, Business Law, Public Administration, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in procurement and contract administration work involving the preparation of specifications and proposals; experience purchasing for a public jurisdiction is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Possess or obtain within two (2) months of hire and maintain thereafter a forklift operator certification in accordance with Washington Division of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) rules.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license at the date of hire and the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire a valid, unrestricted (except for vision) Washington State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical procurement assistance to all City departments to support the efficient and effective use of City resources.
  • Assisting with the citywide credit card program to ensure internal controls are maintained.
  • Assisting with the citywide surplus program, which includes re-utilization, selling, or disposing of equipment and materials to maximize revenue from surplus sales or minimize City expenses and waste.
  • Promoting and adhering to the key procurement values of transparency, accountability, ethics, impartiality, service, and professionalism
