What is the position?

We are seeking a dynamic Product Manager to oversee projects within our Software Development and Support program. This role involves the effective execution and managing entire agile software development lifecycle for a project of at least one million dollars up to and including production delivery and some phase of post-delivery/warranty support. The Project Manager will play a critical role in coordinating project teams, managing resources, and delivering projects that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations, within scope, on time, and within budget.

  • This is a contingency hire and is based on Cognosante being awarded the contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop detailed project plans that outline scope, timelines, resources, and budget. Execute projects according to the plan, making adjustments as necessary to deliver on project objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Engage stakeholders in decision-making processes as required.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional teams within a hybrid Agile environment, facilitating collaboration and ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Resource Management: Manage project resources effectively, including allocation and scheduling of personnel and ensuring the availability of necessary tools and technologies.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and issues early, develop mitigation and resolution strategies, and communicate these to stakeholders and team members.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder requirements. Implement quality control processes as necessary.
  • Process Adherence: Ensure that all project activities comply with agency processes, procedures, and governance requirements.

What qualifications do I need?

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a background check and receive a Public Trust clearance.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,
  • Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Resource Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Product Management Experience: 3 years of experience in project management, with a strong preference for experience in IT or software development projects.
  • Must have expertise as a product manager accountable for at least 10 software professionals with a duration of greater than one year.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Desired Skills

  • Certification: PMI certification (e.g., PMP) is preferred but not required.
  • Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile and hybrid Agile methodologies, with the ability to adapt project management approaches to fit the team and project needs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems, make data-driven decisions, and navigate project challenges.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and manage project teams towards achieving project objectives.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and environments. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Compensation
$111,600.21 - $178,562.52
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
