Description:

CONTRACT: 10-MONTH FTC. FULL TIME, 35 HOURS PER WEEK

Do you have strong print and digital publishing skills and a background in English language teaching? Are you customer-focused and collaborative? Are you keen to identify solutions which delight customers, and which can be delivered efficiently? Do you aspire to be part of a dynamic team, dedicated to reacting to market-driven opportunities? Then this could be your next role.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About the role:
We are looking for a Product Owner with an editorial background to join our team for 10 months, developing English learning materials for Secondary and Primary school segments of global English language learning markets. We are a forward-thinking team, who enjoy working collaboratively and sharing ideas: we have colleagues in different locations around the world and strive to foster a strong connection as a team, despite the physical distance.
As Product Owner in this team, you will have a varied role, leading on several projects with tasks ranging from supporting a Commissioning Editor’s work with external suppliers, to overseeing digital updates, to scoping and validating proposals for new learning materials. You will need to be curious about the customer and be able to work with colleagues to answer customer needs in a way which is feasible and viable. This means engaging with customers, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, and leading in-house and external editorial Delivery teams. You will have the opportunity to hear feedback directly from customers, which can be extremely motivating.
This role offers a great opportunity for growth and development, as well as the chance to make a significant, positive contribution to the development of English learning materials for our Schools customers all over the world. If you don’t want to miss out, please take a look at the job description attached at the end of the advert. We want to hear from you.

ABOUT YOU:

  • We are looking for an individual with strong publishing skills and commercial acumen.
  • A background in commissioning editorial components with experience in researching, planning, and specifying a range of products is essential. This should include involvement in projects for print and digital delivery.
  • You will have experience of developing and adapting learning materials. You will be able to lead internal editorial teams and external freelancer/packager teams to deliver them.
  • You will be an excellent problem-solver in high pressure situations and be able to come up with innovative but practical solutions.
  • You will be organised and flexible, and an excellent communicator.
  • You should be a true collaborator, embracing opportunities for learning and seeking to empower others.

WHY JOIN US?

Joining us is your opportunity to pursue potential. You’ll belong to a collaborative team that’s exploring new and better ways to serve students, teachers and researchers across the globe – for the benefit of individuals, society and the world. Sharing our mission will inspire your own growth, development and progress, in an environment which embraces difference, change and aspiration.
Cambridge University Press & Assessment is committed to being a place where anyone can enjoy a successful career, where it’s safe to speak up, and where we learn continuously to improve together. We welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of demographic characteristics (age, disability, educational attainment, ethnicity, gender, marital status, neurodiversity, religion, sex, gender identity and sexual identity), cultural, or social class/background.
We believe better outcomes come through diversity of thought, background and approach. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and communities, actively seeking to employ people from a wide range of different communities.
