Job Description
We are hiring a Product Owner for our Analytics and Data Science team. The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing the product backlog, communicating the vision to the development team, and ensuring that the delivered product increment meets the acceptance criteria. They act as the bridge between the business, customers, and the development team, providing clarity on the product features, functionality, and priorities throughout the development process.

Ultimately, the Product Owner is accountable for the success of the product and its delivery. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and prioritize requirements for breeding operations software and systems, acting as the voice of the customer.

  • Managing the product backlog to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs and facilitating effective communication and decision-making between stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of breeding operations software solutions, continuously gathering feedback and monitoring performance to drive product enhancements.
  • Contributing to the development of product roadmaps and strategic planning, serving as the primary point of contact for end-users, and collaborating with stakeholders to gather detailed product requirements and user stories.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders, participating in sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings, and monitoring and reporting on key product metrics to drive decision-making and improvements.
  • Staying current with industry trends and managing and prioritizing work in an Agile environment to ensure the team focuses on delivering high-value features.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of end-user inquiries and issues related to the breeding operations system.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles to support end-user adoption and proficiency.
  • Accurately capture and communicate user feedback and requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Independently conduct training sessions and workshops, tailoring content to different user groups and skill levels.
  • Under supervision, assist in the testing and validation of system updates and enhancements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

PLEASE NOTE - THIS ROLE REQUIRES SOMEONE ALREADY BASED IN NORTH AMERICA NOT REQUIRING SPONSORSHIP. AGRICULTURE OR BIOTECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a product management or related role in the agricultural or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven experience in gathering and prioritizing requirements from diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of agribusiness operations, particularly in the breeding and seed development domains.
  • Knowledge of product management methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles and best practices.
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and user-centered design.
  • Experience in managing product backlogs and working closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers and business analysts.
  • Familiarity with breeding operations processes, systems, and tools. Proficient understanding of breeding operations processes, workflows, and best practices.
