Description:

TRANSFORMING THE FUTURE WITH THE CONVERGENCE OF SIMULATION AND DATA

Application Engineer for Electrification (M/F)
Altair Engineering, Inc. (www.altair.com) is a world leading editor of scientific software for engineers. With a 30-year-plus track record for product design and advanced engineering software, Altair has more than 5,000 corporate clients representing the automotive, aerospace, government and defense, and consumer products verticals.
Its software suite HyperWorks is the most widely used in the world of CAE (Computer Aided Engineering). Based on process automation, data management and design optimization, HyperWorks is a suite of simulation tools for the design and quick decision-making for product design.
Considered as the most comprehensive open-architecture simulation platform in the PLM market, offering technologies to design and optimize high performance, efficient and innovative products, HyperWorks provides the best solutions for modelling all physical problems (structural, crash & safety, thermal, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, …).
Altair is developing a complete solution which enables companies to reduce the time they need to electrify their products. It provides simulation and optimization capabilities to find innovative designs of batteries, power converters and electric motors.
To strengthen its electrification solution team, Altair is hiring an application engineer specialized in the design of electric motor drives.
Job Summary
The design of electric drive systems requires a multiphysics approach to accurately analyze the performance of motors, converters, and batteries. This includes electromagnetic, structural, NVH, thermal, fluid dynamics domains and various couplings between them. Simulation solutions should also consider several levels of modeling, from 1D at system level, to full 3D to optimize each component.
We are looking for an application engineer to strengthen the team that is developing our electrification solution, making sure that it answers the challenges of our customers and brings the best available numerical techniques within easy to use workflows.
Your role will be to work with the development team on the definition of the features that need to be developed, propose efficient simulation and optimization workflows, providing automated solutions. You will participate to the testing, the documentation and the promotion of the solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with product managers to specify developments
  • Develop and automate simulation workflows
  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Write software documentation
  • Ensure advanced support of customers
  • Build presentations and videos that demonstrate the developed capabilities

What You Will Need

  • Solid theoretical background in electrical engineering
  • Good knowledge in numerical methods
  • Knowledge in battery design, motor design and power converters
  • Good practice of 1D and 3D simulation tools
  • Ability to write Scripts in Python language.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development processes
  • Be a team player able to take responsibilities.
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Master or PhD degree in electrical engineer or similar

If you are motivated by the prospect of working in a growing engineering company and think you can bring your dynamism and creativity, then we are ready to meet you!
