JOB SUMMARY

The Production Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of production processes, equipment, jigs, fixtures and work instructions for the assembly of Schréder Australia’s LED lighting and associated products. This includes leading productivity improvements to reduce assembly times, reduce waste, improve quality and safety as well as collaborating with engineering teams developing new or adapted products to ensure that these products have been designed and optimised for manufacture such as materials selection, ease of assembly, testing and final packaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product assembly requirements.
  • Design and develop test jigs and fixtures to assure product and process quality.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams to ensure new products introduced for assembly have been designed and optimised for manufacture.
  • Prepare work instructions and testing procedures to ensure products are manufactured according to specification.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiencies by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout to reduce costs and maximize quality.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
  • Ensure equipment is safe and operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
  • Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources.
  • Resolve issues and delays in production.
  • Train staff in new and existing processes.
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow quality, safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Align production processes with Schréder group manufacturing systems and best practices.
