Your Responsibilities
- Support Health and Safety aspects following Ontario H&S requirements within the plant for production and warehouse.
- Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure government regulations and company policies.
- Assist with the preparation of written reports on findings.
- Design and implement workplace processes, policies and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions.
- Evaluate programs on workplace health and safety.
- Conduct new hire and yearly safety training requirements.
- Educate employees about workplace safety by preparing and providing training programs.
- Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
- Incidents and accidents investigation to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented and work with HR for documentation and required action.
- Ensure documentation is logged and filled for quick reference.
- Run the health and safety committee and take minutes and drive actions to closure.
- On the floor involvement with operations on the production floor, completing daily walk through, inspections and H&S initiatives.
- Perform weekly site audits and support operations in the closing of audit findings and action plans.
- Assist during safety audits when required.
- Provide first aid as required and the plant wide first aid kits with supplies.
- Support the plant in the emergency evacuation procedures and maintain the log
- Other duties as assigned.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of H&S experience within food and beverage manufacturing field.
- WSIP Certifications and experience with the claims
- Strong communication skills and agile approach to sort out issues and provide solutions within company policy and legal framework.
- Organization and analytical skills
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory training
- Knowledge of manufacturing and processing environments.
- Must be extremely organized and a self-starter, able to work with limited supervision.
- Strong computer skills is required
- Ability to use and interpret the readings of a variety of safety and health instruments and equipments.
- Ability to deliver under pressure in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in self directed fashion is a must.
- First aid certification would be an asset.
- Ability to lift 40 lb. file boxes from the floor
- Ability to work overnight if needed
General information
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm
