About the Role
Production Manager is a lead management position in Cann’s state-of-the-art cultivation and production facility in Mildura, Victoria. The position is integral to the post-harvest and production area, where the company produces medicinal cannabis materials for inhalation and extraction.
This position works in a multi-faceted environment overseeing post-harvest and production activities including drying, bucking, trimming and curing, through to milling packing, labelling and dispatch as well as the production of m-cap materials. This position will handle many tasks including engaging with and directing the operation of post-harvest and production equipment operation, scheduling and organising the production team, organising shipments, and controlled material management.
As a Production Manager, you will
Carry out routine tasks accurately and strictly, according to SOPs and maintain consistency and quality in post-harvest and production activities.
Ensure the tray and trolley wash function is performed as per SOP’s.
Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks in all applicable areas.
Work closely with the General Manager – Mildura, General Manager – Commercial Operations and Cultivation Manager to achieve the production schedule for Cann Group.
Direct the Harvest and Production leads and warehousing staff in the performance of all their related duties. This will include checking the quality of forms and work orders to ensure that minimum standards are maintained.
Coordinate with various departments to schedule packing and production runs, aligning post-harvest activities with organisational requirements and downstream production processes.
Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Train harvest and production staff and ensure training matrices are up to date and skills are appropriate.
Record harvest and production parameters, interpreting data and reporting on parameters as necessary.
Maintain and conduct rigorous checking of logs, including equipment, facility, and cleaning, among other things.
Manage controlled material movements to and from the site and ensure stocktakes are undertaken on time and corrective actions addressed promptly.
Identify areas of process improvement, formulate a plan of approach, and communicate any potential projects to Management.
Ensure that the harvest and production areas are well-stocked and resourced by regularly inventorying equipment and tools and placing orders as necessary.
Work with corporate and on-site procurement teams to ensure material supplies are sufficient with appropriate reserve stocks.
Keep equipment operating by liaising with engineering and facilities groups as appropriate.
Keep up to date with industry technical developments, especially those that can save time and improve reliability and efficiencies.
Update job knowledge for yourself and your team by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, engaging in industry events, and organising external training sessions.
Ensure controlled material is handled correctly and reconciliation is performed and verified on all controlled substances.
About you
Qualifications / Licences
Bachelor’s (Preferred) and/or 3 Year Degree in science-related field preferred, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory or product manufacturing setting.
Pre-employment Security and Health Screening.

Skills / Competencies

  • Ability to raise deviations, CAPA’s and Change Controls, conduct root cause analysis, investigate customer complaints and follow through to completion by working effectively across departments to resolve.
  • Ability to periodically review and amend documents in line with best practice, regulatory and organisational requirements

Responsibilities:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory or product manufacturing setting.
Proven experience in a management position.
Experience with Continuous Improvement and demonstrated ability to improve processes and eliminate waste.

Skills / Competencies

Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and employees, and comfortable working within a solid line and dotted line management structure.
Must be able to approach conflict or disagreement constructively and mediate in conflict as needed.
Strong organisational skills.
Must be able to understand and work within the strict confines of the laws set forth by the state with regard to its legal medical program.
Should have, or be capable of achieving, a solid understanding of personnel and safety laws, and how to ensure their implementation within their workspace.
Understanding of the variety of tasks required in working in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to work independently, manage projects and meet deadlines.
