Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for all company printing needs for prepress, lithographic and screen printing while adhering to the corporate quality assurance system that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of G+D Mobile Security. Assist in initiating and implementing quality improvement activities appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s product. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the production process. Operate the department within established company and corporate operating guidelines.

  • Maintaining and achieving scrap limits and reduction goals.
  • General maintenance and performance of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in printing industry.
  • Minimum five (5) years of work experience in all phases of press work in the printing industry
  • 2 years’ experience in card manufacturing plant preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of press, bindery, die cutting and gluing functions is preferred.
  • Prior working knowledge in overseeing file preparation for print production, trapping, imposition, proofing and color calibration.
  • Knowledge of theory and principles of pre-press, lithographic and silkscreen printing.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Above average mechanical knowledge of printing equipment.
  • Knowledge of vinyl, UV, solvent and water based inks.
  • Above average computer skills including quality, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Understanding of general safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

JOB DUTIES

  • Manage all prepress, lithographic, screen and ink mixing personnel.
  • Ensure staff coverage to meet print & production schedules.
  • Request all necessary supplies to insure uninterrupted operation of the press department.
  • Ensure that equipment is available for scheduled maintenance.
  • Ensure that the press equipment and areas are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
  • Establish, implement and report metrics for the performance of the department and staff.
  • Develop a training regimen for all staff members and positions.
  • Ensure departmental KPI’s are within company and corporate expectations.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Interact with customers during press checks to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Interface with internal QM and supplier concerning problems with quality control and assure effective corrective action is implemented.
  • Oversee preflighting of customer files for offset printing and packaging.
  • Oversee impositions and proofing requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that files from customers are accurate and will direct the arrangement of their concepts so the files can be printed in an attractive manner under customer specifications.
  • Adheres to ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 standards and operates within PCI standards
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
