Description:

VG Meats is looking for a Production Manager in Simcoe, ON! The Production Manager is the person directly responsible for overseeing the daily operations and develops strategies to ensure it meets production goals at minimal cost. The Production Manager is also responsible for upholding a safe work environment for employees.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

College diploma or degree in manufacturing/production management or a related field of study; and/or equivalent related work experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with strong organizational skills
Computer literate and mechanically inclined
5 + years previous management experience in a food manufacturing environment with proven leadership skills;
Effective leadership skills and motivational abilities, with a strong focus on plant and business processes
Ability to identify key issues, overcome internal challenges or obstacles creatively and strategically
A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills

Responsibilities:

Work directly with department heads to coordinate production and distribution activities and ensure smooth daily operations
Train supervisors and administrators, give performance reviews, institute employee policies and procedures and motivate staff to meet or exceed production goals
Build and maintain a trusting relationship with employees and communicate about performance expectations
Hire and onboard new staff
Give useful feedback to employees
Test and monitor plant processes
Prepare and analyze production and performance reports; determine KPIs and measure them on a regulus basis
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations
Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in various activities related to safety, quality, productivity, innovation, information and data security, supply management, marketing, people management, and other delivery
Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
Adhere to company’s rules and regulations
Stay up to date with latest production trends, best practices and technology
Reports to: General Manager
Other duties as assigned
