Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Colostrum Operator 1 is responsible for entry level tasks while working toward completing training and demonstrating mastery of the processes covered in either the Wet Process or Dryer training packets.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food or drug manufacturing environment preferred
KNOWLEDGE
- Familiarity with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and practices
- Working knowledge of GMP’s, CFR 111, food allergen handling and other food safety related practices including safe quality food requirements
SKILLS
- Visual acuity needed for color coded equipment and chemicals
- Strong work ethic, including the ability to report to work on time for scheduled shifts.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A working understanding of food processing, clean in place (CIP) and packaging equipment
- Be a team player willing to perform additional duties as required.
ABILITIES
- Ability to maintain a good attendance record is required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly during the working shift.
- Ability to work in hot, humid, and cold environments.
- Ability to read and write in English and understand batch records, SOP’s, SDS’s, and training materials.
- Ability to accurately record data and maintain a clean working environment.
- Ability to work different shifts and weekends, including overtime, as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Dumping and cleaning buckets of frozen colostrum.
- Packaging powder in the dryer rooms.
- Cleaning the outside of tanks and equipment.
- Handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with the SDS and using proper PPE at all times.
- Training to operate specific pieces of equipment and, once signed off, operating them independently.
- Understand and fill out master batch records correctly and completely.
- Adhere to all GMP’s and SOP’s.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
- Cross-training and working in other departments as needed.
