Description:

Responsible for coordinating, planning, scheduling, and supervising products throughout their production process or cycle.

Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department.

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
  • Coordinates with supply chain to negotiate with outside supply vendors; to ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders.
  • Participates in SIOP meetings with supply chain, sales, marketing, and other related departments.
  • Development, preparation, and maintenance of production schedules.
  • Guide the production scheduling activities and resources to achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess and incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules.
  • Monitor production progress and develop revised scheduling responsive to changes in flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources.

Utilize ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules.

  • Design and implement the production schedule plan considering all aspects of production including low cost, timeliness, and effectiveness.
  • Monitor the materials inventory, track progress of production, and review factors which affect production targets.
  • Work together with other employees to make sure that all issues that are related to scheduling are properly handled and resolved.
  • Rectify and/or reconcile differences and inaccuracies that have to do with inventory levels and associated variances.
  • Make sure schedules are given to employees in a timely fashion and that any discrepancies in the company’s schedule are accounted for.
  • Coordinate the collection and assimilation of data for various projects, i.e., tracking of error metrics, claims, process rates, etc.
  • Ensure that every employee involved in the production process has a clear understanding of what is required to meet the order and needs of customers.
  • Maintain documents related to inventory (cycle counts/discrepancies), etc.
  • Manage day-to-day performance of department staff.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Position Qualification Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
Experience
At least five years of related experience required.
Skills + Knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Extremely proficient with production planning systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics. Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Utilizing data analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI.

Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job which requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, push, pull, grasp, talk, hear, climb, and see. The employee is required to lift 25 to 60 pounds rarely and/or 5 to 25 pounds occasionally and/or 1 to 5 pounds frequently and/or under 1 pound continuously from floor to waist and move 1 or 2 feet. Must be able to maintain a level state of alertness while performing this job.
