About the Role:*
In this role, you will work in a flexible manufacturing environment within a unionized setting, represented by an independent union. Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing and coordinating the production activities of machine operators, assemblers, and fabricators. You will ensure that all materials and work performed adhere to our organization’s standards and comply with safety regulations and guidelines. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the manufacturing environment. You will lead by example, promoting a cooperative atmosphere where all team members are empowered to contribute their expertise and insights.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, essential for effective coordination within a diverse team, and demonstrate strong people management abilities to excel in this position. Additionally, they should be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision in a high variety environment and adept at prioritizing and problem solving workload efficiently and effectively. A comprehensive understanding of the OHSA, JHSC 1 & 2, and the Employment Standards Act, 2000, coupled with experience in a union environment and familiarity with ISO 9000, would be valuable assets for this role.

Required Qualifications/ Skills and Attributes:*

  • Post-secondary education, or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record in custom manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of varied/ tailored production processes
  • 2+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience preferred or demonstrated experience in supervising and motivating teams to achieve and succeed in their goals
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor the progress of all direct reports
  • Strong people management abilities, including the capacity to motivate and lead teams
  • Proven understanding and execution of Lean Manufacturing an asset
  • Possess knowledge and experience in labour relations
  • Proficiency with computers and related programs & software such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with MRP software
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written in English)
  • This position has the following core physical requirements:
  • Frequent walking and standing as well as stair climbing
  • Lifting over 20 lbs. as required

Location: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, ON, N3R 7K1 (On-site, 4 days a week)

Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday, 4:00 pm – 2:30 am straight shifts
