Description:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma, associates/bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, union manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to document workflows, processes, and procedures for varying functional and organizational areas. Innovative problem solving capabilities with special attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high volume, fast paced work environment with a biased towards action.
  • Experience with personal computers and materials handling equipment; knowledge of OfficeXP
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA requirements and safety guidelines

POSITION SUMMARY:

The production Supervisor is responsible for providing management, guidance and direction to production staff while overseeing all die cutting operations that occur during the assigned shift. The production supervisor ensure production schedule is achieved at expected costs, while meeting standards for safety and quality.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree in a business, or technical discipline preferred
  • Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred but not required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Union environment a plus.
  • 2 + years’ experience in folding carton, corrugated, printed packaging strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high volume, fast paced work environment with a biased towards action.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all employees through senior leadership level.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and best practices; familiarization with SAP,
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus

Experience in leading people and teams in a manufacturing setting are required. LEAN manufacturing background. Exceptional problem solver with a strong drive for continuous improvement. Metrics/performance-oriented leader with strong communication skills. Key attributes of the successful candidate include self-starter, organized, technical aptitude, great leadership skills, ability to learn quickly, team-player, and the desire to progress within manufacturing leadership positions.

  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish production objectives maintaining strong floor presence.
  • Lead safety by conducting/participating in safety meetings, identify safety issues and follows-up as necessary with appropriate team members.
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments to ensure production goals/objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Works with operations team to ensure vacancies are covered for any planned/unplanned time off. Works with Human Resources in reporting excused/unexcused absences, as necessary.
  • Prepares and reviews employees worked hours via timekeeping system.
  • Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enters production data accurately into system in order to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory, and overall production.
  • Update communication boards to keep production floor team members informed about safety, quality and efficiency metrics. Leads employee start-up meetings.
  • Responds to employees’ questions and concerns, as necessary. Works with Human Resources for guidance in handling more sensitive employee relations issues, investigations or disciplinary matters.
  • Works with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses. Implements cost effective systems around this as necessary.
  • Promotes shop floor organization, plant housekeeping with employees lean utilizing techniques such as 5S with shift personnel.
  • Orders any production related supplies such as boxes, labels etc. needed.
  • Acts as first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sol

  • Identifies and secures necessary resources (people, materials, etc.)
  • Schedules and assigns work to staff, managing and adjusting priorities
  • Manage direct labor, materials, and other related costs to budget
  • Monitors production process and progress in terms of meeting production goals; trouble-shoots problems as necessary
  • Ensures proper functioning of equipment by coordinating with maintenance and other departments as needed
  • Coordinates with incoming/outgoing shift leader and other staff as needed to ensure a smooth transition between shifts
