ABOUT YOU

You’ll need to have a BTEC certificate or equivalent in an engineering discipline. We are looking for someone who has several years of offshore production experience.
Current valid offshore survival, medical and MIST are a must.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles
  • The inherent hazards of operating in this nature and the substances involved require the job holder to possess a thorough knowledge of procedures and the process systems to ensure the ongoing integrity of health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Confidence to make judgements relying on their own knowledge to react positively to any incident, to control and take charge of a situation. Trained in areas such as firefighting, the use of self-contained breath apparatus, coxswain (offshore), first aid, HLO etc. to enable them to be part of an Emergency Response Team.

Responsibilities:

CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continually monitor well / process / utilities systems and equipment making suitable adjustments to ensure production is optimised to ensure daily MPP (Maximum Production Potential) targets are met.
  • Continuously monitor Fire and Gas / DCS alarms and trips, responding with the necessary actions and urgency.
  • Safely and efficiently shut down and restart production, safety and utilities plant when required, in accordance with plant operating procedures and parameters
  • Liaises closely with the maintenance team on the delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Provides support as part of the installation emergency response team.
  • Operate gas production/processing plant in accordance with procedures utilising various type of DCS equipment (ABB, Rosemount, Delta V).
  • Co-ordinate the activities of a small team of outside technicians as operating conditions necessitate.
  • Apply overrides and inhibits in line with procedures, ensuring the correct level of authorisation has been granted.
  • Comply with any ORAs (Operational Risk Assessments) and Operations Memorandums that are in place.
  • Be fully aware of the ‘trip and alarm’ schedule and ensure plant operates within the defined operating envelope.
  • Identify and report plant/equipment defects and operating abnormalities. Utilising the CMMS (SAP) to raise a ’notification of defect’ of suitable quality in order for the repair/work to be carried out, at the correct time, according to the assessed priority.
  • Liaise with overside teams as required by overside working procedures.
  • Liaise with Marine vessel in the local area as necessary utilisng VHF radio.
  • Attend TBTs as required and as a minimum as defined in the detailed permit to work procedure.
  • Conduct OCA (Operational Compliance Audits) as required.
  • It is an expectation of the business that the job holder maintains and continues to develop the competencies necessary to carry out the role to the required standard whilst in position.

Once in role, you will be accountable for:

  • Operates high pressure gas production/processing plant and utilities equipment in accordance with procedures, utilising both on-plant and control room equipment, monitoring performance through control systems and regular on-site patrol, recording performance data and providing appropriate reports
  • Acts as Area Technician, monitoring and controlling all activities within a defined area of jurisdiction in accordance with permitry specification/constraints and appropriate procedures/work practices
  • Acts as Mechanical Isolating Authority, applying and testing mechanical isolations within defined area of jurisdiction and in accordance with company isolation procedures. Supports Production Team Lead with planning and preparation of isolation certificates.
  • Supports the Production Team Lead in drawing up Permits to Work and in preparing plans for planned and defect maintenance, ensuring safe working conditions for such activity and controlling the return of plant to service
  • Identifies and reports plant/equipment defects and operating abnormalities, raising and progressing work order defects through the system
  • Performs first line maintenance and remedial tasks, maintaining appropriate records
  • Analyses plant performance data to ensure the plant is performing at optimum efficiency, producing reports and recommendations on the findings
  • Monitors stock levels of chemicals, pigs, spares and consumables to ensure continuity of production capability and extracts process material samples and undertakes analysis to monitor product quality and to ensure that effluent discharges meet specified standards, taking corrective actions as appropriate
  • Develops and reviews operating procedures for approval and implementation in line with Company standards and statutory requirement
